Who’s The Real Superhero?

With so many superhero movies lately, such as the laughable Green Hornet that turned into a half-action, half-satire comic-book-hero film adaptation, the unbelievably abysmal Ghost Rider: Spirits of Vengeance, one of the more rushed blockbuster productions in recent memory, but miraculously turned out pretty well and earning strong reviews, a whole lot of money, and of course, the inevitable plans for a sequel X-Men: First Class, the dorky film that doesn’t bother to disguise it’s comic book roots, doesn’t even try to modernize Green Lantern, a very good re-invention of a difficult to handle superhero Thor, the masterfully done “if you don’t walk out of this film screaming HELLL YEAAAA!!, then you are not normal” newest version of The Incredible Hulk, the movie that would please the fanboys and satisfy the critics Iron Man 2, the like its titular hero, which modestly embraced silliness, creating a charming B-movie experience Captain America: The First Avenger, the “never been another movie made of its caliber” and masterfully done superhero-studded The Avengers, now taking you to the next level is a rebooted The Amazing Spiderman (which I recently just finished watching just now) and soon another reincarnation of the Batman, The Dark Knight Rises (wow! what a long list it has been and that’s just a few of them), we are now getting used to seeing fictional people with special abilities.

But wouldn’t it be cooler to see real life people with amazing superhero-like abilities to actually exist in real life. Becoming a real life superhero is truly the greatest deed a man can wish for.

Not So Pedestrian Lanes

“You know why pedestrian lanes are ignored? Because they’re boring. IXM together with the Pasig City local government aims to change that with these not-so-pedestrian lanes. 0% accident, 100% service!”

Looks amusing (Look down below at the end of this blog post!), yes. But for it to actually work? Probably not.

I can just imagine people crossing the street LOOKING DOWN and trying to figure out these hideous looking pedestrian lanes, while being oblivious to oncoming vehicles.

Hate to break it to you, guys, but people ignore pedestrian lanes because people tend to cross the road where it is convenient for them to reach their destinations efficiently. ‎”Boring” symbol for pedestrian lanes is definitely not the reason why it is ignored. The problem is really three way. Lack of discipline from both the pedestrians and drivers (that’s two); and weak enforcement of traffic regulations by the authorities (or worse is a twisted implementation of these for corruption).

Pirata DVD

Do people still go to cinemas to watch movies? With the availability of sites where you could watch or download movies like torrent and other peer to peer or P2P sites, I could just get my serving of movies at home. There are actually several Internet users that use P2P file-sharing services to download movies, aside from music, applications, etc. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if a survey would release a report claiming that 95% percent of all these downloads were illegal.

What does this tell us? Besides solidifying the fact that people love downloading free entertainment. It exemplifies that P2P has become heavily engrained into the fabric of the Internet. But as we’ve seen, there are crackdowns on digital lockers that allow media sharing, shutting down certain sites and targeting the other remaining sites. However, this isn’t the first time downloaders have witnessed their favorite file-sharing portals bite the dust.
